Picking At The Pop Up Farm

Last year I travelled over to Hitchin Lavender along with the rest of the crowds to PYO (pick your own) lavender & sunflowers.

What Instagram doesn’t show you, is the swarms of other people getting in the way of your photos and the thousands of bees and wasps constantly chasing you around the fucking field.

I’ll be honest, it was totally over-rated and not a pleasant experience, even for an insta basic bitch like me.

Paired with the over-priced cafe and the 14 mile trek to get there, I wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice.

However when I saw The Pop Up Farm’s last day for ‘picking’ on Facebook, I thought I’d drag the boyfriend along and give the PYO sitch another go.

And I’m so glad I did!

Sunday At Stockwood Gardens

Back when I was a student, I lived just 5 minutes from Stockwood Park and only ever visited the once.

Myself and the girls took a walk up to Farley Hill in search of a chip shop and happened to pass through the park on our quest. We’ll do anything for a decent chip and a bit of curry sauce. Nine years later and nothing’s really changed!

To mark the occasion, I decided that we’d take a trip over to Stockwood Discovery Centre and check out the gardens and their new cafe for a spot of lunch.

Here’s what we got up to…

Well the spots are certainly out there, it’s just knowing where to find them.

Here’s five of my fave spots you might just want to consider….

Dinner At Desert’s Rose

IMG_8758.JPG

It would be criminal of me to launch this blog and not mention one of my most favourite restaurants in the whole of Luton! It had to make the cut.

If you’ve ever followed the path to Luton Station from the back of The Mall, you may have seen an interesting little Arabic restaurant on your way through.

I first discovered Desert’s Rose when my former work team arranged a Christmas meal here back in 2011. I was a little uncultured in food terms back in those days, so I wasn’t sure it was totally my scene but I’m so glad I persevered.

On a more recent visit, I decided to take some photos to share one of my more up-to-date experiences with you guys…
