I don’t know about you, but I just absolutely adore the Autumn season. The colourful golden leaves and the moody sunset skies, there’s no better time to get outside and get that perfect orangey-yellow shot!
I’ve pulled together five of the best locations to get snapping this Autumn in and around Luton.
The Pop Up Farm
There’s nothing quite like getting you into the spirit of Halloween, than picking your own pumpkins! You can easily spend a couple of hours at the farm, taking pics on the barrels of hay and posing with the fields full of pumpkins. Totes American vibes. See more from my latest visit here.
Tickets to The Pop Up Farm have been an absolute mission to get this year, but I finally managed to succeed! Since then, they’ve been releasing additional tickets on most days, so it’s worth keeping an eye out if you haven’t managed to bag yourself any as of yet.
The Pop Up Farm, M1 Junction 9, Flamstead, St Albans AL3 8HT
Someries Castle is such a random existence in the urbanity of Luton but if there’s ever a time to visit, Autumn is the time to come. You won’t be here long at these ruins, but it’s certainly an interesting place to learn about these historic remains and take some impressive photos.
Be careful on your way up the lane, there’s a fair amount of pot holes and look out for random chickens that escape from the farm house. Oh, and not forgetting the ghost of John Wenlock (well, apparently!).
Someries Castle, 81 Someries Cottages, Someries, Luton LU2 9PL
Great Hayes Wood
This pretty little woodlands are perfect for an Autumnal photo!
The woods are covered in the tallest of trees with pine cones galore, making it the perfect home to plenty of squirrels and other cute wildlife.
Make sure you look out for the fairy doors dotted all over the trees, there are lots to spot!
Hitchin Rd, Luton LU2 8DL, (entrance opposite The Hilton Garden Inn)
If you enjoyed Someries House, then you’ll certainly love Houghton House!
Another set of historic remains, you can walk up and down the multiple floors enjoying what’s left of the 17th Century Mansion. Towards the back of the house has great views further afield into the Bedfordshire countryside.
I particularly love the walk up the gravelled path to the house which is just so pretty. Check my Instagram for pics!
Hazelwood Ln, Ampthill, Pine View Park, Bedford MK45 2EZ
Shuttleworth Swiss Gardens
I visited Shuttleworth Gardens in the summer and was so impressed, so I have just booked myself tickets for the Shuttleworth in Lights event which looks fantastic! The event consists of a 1 mile trail filled with enchanting lights around the Shuttleworth House and Gardens.
There are very limited tickets left, so I would suggest booking as soon as you can as I only managed to get the last day of the event.
So looking forward to this one!
